Request deletion of your Scribe Origins account and data

Use either path below. You do not need the app installed: the web path works in any browser.

  1. In Scribe Origins, open Settings & Account, open the Account menu, choose Delete Account, and enter the code sent to your account email.
  2. On the web, open Delete account in Support. If you are signed in, choose Delete Account and enter the code sent to your account email. If you are not signed in, enter your account email and send the request.

Delete data in Support removes your synced study data from our servers. Your account, your subscription and the study data on this device stay.

After you confirm account deletion, your account closes and your sessions end. Our staff review deletion requests daily and check server data and backups before removing them. We complete removal within 30 days of the request.

We remove your account details, synced study records, notes, custom content, support messages, and community data. Study data saved only on your device stays there until you remove it from that device.

Children and Community safety

You may choose a name to use in forums or partner chats. Other participants can see that name beside your posts and messages.

Children can use language exchange chats only with partners whose stated age is within one year of their own stated age. AI monitors all forum posts and chats for possible abuse. You can also flag a post or message using the abuse controls.

Other data and payments

If you use Community, you may choose to provide your age, gender, and city. We may also estimate your city, region, and country from your IP address when you sign in.

Google processes purchases made through Google Play. Apple processes App Store purchases, and Stripe handles web purchases.

1. Who this is from

Scribe Origins is provided by Guiix Pty Ltd, Australia. This policy explains what we keep, why we keep it, and what you can do about it.

2. What you give us

  • Your email address, if you create an account. That is how you sign in — we send you a link instead of asking for a password.
  • If you sign in with Apple or Google instead, whatever that service tells us about you when you approve it, which is usually your name and email address.
  • Anything you write in the app: your own notes on words, the word lists you build, and messages you send us for help.
  • Where Scribe Origins lets you talk to other learners, the name and picture you choose to show and anything you post.

3. What is saved as you study

Studying creates a record of your learning: which words you have seen, how well you knew them, when each one is due again, your streaks, your finished sessions, your settings, and the name you give a device so you can tell your devices apart.

4. How the app is used

To see which lessons actually work, we record what happened in a study session: which item you answered, whether you got it right, how long you took, which study mode you were in, which language you are learning, and which language the app itself is showing.

5. When something goes wrong

If part of the app fails, it sends us a short technical report describing what failed, where in the app it happened, and which screen you were on.

6. Subscriptions and payments

If you subscribe, the payment is handled by Apple, Google or Stripe, depending on where you bought it. They tell us that your subscription is active and when it renews, so the app can unlock.

7. What we never do

  • No advertising or social-media trackers.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your information for anyone's marketing.

8. Who else is involved

  • Apple, for subscriptions bought through the App Store, and for Sign in with Apple.
  • Google, for subscriptions bought through Google Play, and for Sign in with Google.
  • Stripe, for subscriptions bought on the web.
  • OpenAI, which checks Community posts, messages and pictures for possible abuse.
  • Our email provider, for sign-in links and account messages.
  • Our hosting provider, which stores the information described here.

We also share information if the law requires it, or to protect people from fraud or harm.

9. How long we keep it, and deleting your account

You can delete your account whenever you want: open Settings & Account and choose to delete it, or use Delete account in Support. We send a confirmation code to your email address, and once you confirm, you are signed out on every device and the account is closed. A subscription bought on the web is cancelled with it. A subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play keeps renewing until you cancel it in your Apple or Google account settings.

Export a copy of your learning first if you want to keep it — the app can save everything to a file.

10. Your choices

  • Get a copy of your learning, any time, from the app.
  • Correct your details in Settings & Account.
  • Delete your account, as described above.
  • Stop non-essential email; messages about your account or your subscription still need to reach you.

11. Keeping it safe

Everything travels over an encrypted connection.

12. Changes, and how to reach us

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page, and we will tell you in the app when a change matters to you.

Questions about your information? Open Scribe Origins and go to Settings & Account → Support. We answer there.
